Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of FN-001 White to the front of tray. Allow to dry.
  3. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of FN-009 Black to the back of the tray. Allow to dry.
  4. With a pencil and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper, trace the pattern on top of tray.
  5. Using a CB-308 #8 Flat Shader, shade along the outline of the Panda under the arms, down the nose, and any place that is needed with SC-60 Silver Lining.
  6. Using a CB-406 #6 Pointed Round, apply SC-15 Tuxedo to fill in the arms, legs, ears, nose, and around the eyes.
  7. Place some of the following colors on a tile: SC-25 Crackerjack Brown, SC-14 Java Bean and SC-46 Rawhide.
  8. Using a CB-308 #8 Flat Shader, load with SC-46 Rawhide into your shader brush then side load with SC-25 Crackerjack Brown. Starting at the bottom of the design and pulling upwards, start your bamboo stalks. Take about 1-1½" pulls at a time upwards stopping to make a break in-between pulls. This will give the bamboo look.
  9. Now with SC-14 Java Bean go back and shade the joints of the stalks.
  10. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, outline some of the stalks with SC-15 Tuxedo.
  11. Place some of the following colors on a tile: SC-26 Green Thumb and SC-39 Army Surplus.
  12. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, you are going to put in a few leaves to your liking and grass along the bottom.
  13. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, put in the Panda eyes with SC-14 Java Bean and SC-15 Tuxedo.
  14. To add a textured look on the Panda, use a CB-406 #6 Pointed Round and apply 2 coats of SG-201 Black Cobblestone to the black areas of the bear, but not on the nose. Apply the 2nd coat after the first loses its shine.
  15. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats SG-202 White Cobblestone to the border around the tray. If you get some on the pattern it is okay. Apply the 2nd coat after the first loses its shine. Allow to dry.
  16. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 05/06
