Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Pour a small amount of SC-63 Popeye's Favorite and SC-15 Tuxedo onto a palette (do not blend the colors - keep separated!), sprinkle each with AC-310 Silkscreen Medium, and mix with a palette knife until the mixture has the consistency of peanut butter.
  3. From DSS-111 Botanical Leaves: use the grass screen around the bottom of the paint can; choose a couple of the small trees and one medium tree for additional background.
  4. Apply the thickened SC-63 Popeye's Favorite to the screens used above (familiarize yourself with the silk screen directions).
  5. Use the pencil to sketch a tree (see photo for general idea). Fill in the tree with SG-406 Designer Liner Brown, outline with SG-401 Designer Liner Black.
  6. The paper patterns are copies of the screens you will be using.  Cut out the patterns for the maple pod and the oak leaf (the oak leaf is used on the back of the can). Trace on maple pods near the branches of the tree, then trace on the oak leaf on the back of the can.
  7. Using CB-106 #6 Script Liner apply 2 coats of SC-97 Cant-elope inside the outlines drawn.
  8. When the SC-97 Cant-elope is dry, place the screens of the pods and oak leaf over their respective designs and apply the thickened SC-15 Tuxedo to the screens.
  9. Using CB-604 #4 Soft Fan apply three coats of SC-97 Cant-elope.
  10. Using CB-110 #10/0 Liner apply 2 coats of SC-63 Popeye's Favorite to the upper and lower rims.
  11. Using CB-604 #4 Soft Fan apply two coats of S-2101 Crystal Clear Brushing.
  12. Fire to Cone 05/06.
  13. Cut a coat hanger with wire cutters, shape by bending around a circular object smaller in diameter than the can, bend the ends in to fit in the holes at the side, paint with SS-81 Shimmering Silver.
  14. Use SS-81 Shimmering Silver to add metal highlights to the lower edge and upper lips of the can. After application, thin the upper lip application of SS-81 Shimmering Silver with water and a brush to create a mottled appearance.
