Instructions
- Roll clay ¼" thick between ¼" wood slats. Slump clay over the CD-776 Circle Hump mold. Press into shape with a sand bag. Trim off excess with a needle tool, leaving on the flange.
- Trace on the eyes, nose and lip placement. Add clay to the circle shap to form these shapes. Then, cut out the eye and mouth opening.
- Use the square spiral from CD-1078 Design Press Tools to press in all around the flange. Press in the small square spiral into the flange as shown.
- Use the small round spiral from CD-1075 Small Design Press Tools to press in the face around the eye and cheek area as shown.
- Remove from mold when firm enough to avoid cracking.
- Allow to completely dry.
- Bisque fire to shelf cone 06.
- Thin EL-120 Black Ice with water and brush over all the detail areas using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan. Remove excess glaze with a damp sponge to antique.
- Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2-3 coats of SC-55 Yella Bout It to the face and nose.
- Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of SC-76 Cara-bein Blue to the eyes and 2 coats of SC-74 Hot Tamale to the lips. Apply 2-3 coats of SC-6 Sunkissed to the raised stripe on forehead, under chin and around edge of flange. Decorate flange with SC-75 Orange-A-Peel and SC-74 Hot Tamale.
- Apply 2 coats of EL-120 Black Ice to the edge of mask.
- Stilt and fire to shelf cone 05/06.
