Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Place some FN-018 Bright Blue into a small cup and add a little bit of water to slightly dilute it (about 3 parts glaze and 1 part water).  It should be the consistency of a coffee cream.  Pour this into the vase and roll around to completely coat the interior of the vase.  Drain out the excess glaze and keep the vase inverted until it has lost its shine. Wipe off any glaze from the outside using a damp sponge. Allow to dry.
  3. Cut out the shape of the peacock.
  4. Pencil in the peacock shape on the vase.
  5. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of FN-001 White slightly beyond the pencil area. When nearly dry, brush with water then lay on the paper peacock.
  6. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of SC-93 Honeydew List to the vase..
  7. Thicken up SC-28 Blue Isle with AC-310 Silkscreen Medium to the constancy of peanut butter. Using the Silk Screen, screen over the vase.
  8. Remove the paper pattern.
  9. If needed trace on the large detail areas of the peacock. It may be easier to cut out the flowers out of the pattern and stick it on to the vase as a mask.
  10. Trace on the detail of the peacock.
  11. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of SC-33 Fruit of the Vine on the head and the back.
  12. Apply to the different layers of feathers with 2 coats of SC-11 Blue Yonder.
  13. Brush stroke in smaller sections on the different layers of feathers with SC-27 Sour Apple.
  14. In the center to the smaller feathers stroke in a brush stroke of SC-29 Blue Grass. Tip the feather with SC-33 Fruit of the Vine.  Refer to the pattern for a detailed feather design.
  15. Scrolls that extend from the body are 2 coats of SC-33 Fruit of the Vine.
  16. Remove the paper flowers.
  17. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of SC-89 Cutie Pie Coral to the flower petals and SC-33 Fruit of the Vine to the centers.
  18. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, lightly outline the feathers and the body with SC-15 Tuxedo. Allow to dry.
