Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Place some FN-213 Saffire Blue into a small cup and add a little bit of water to slightly dilute it (about 3 parts glaze and 1 part water). It should be the consistency of a coffee cream. Pour this into the book vase and roll around to completely coat the interior of the book vase. Drain out the excess glaze and keep the book vase inverted until it has lost its shine. Wipe off any glaze from the outside using a damp sponge. Allow to dry.
  3. Cut out the shape of the rabbit head and rear view of the rabbit pattern.
  4. Trace around the shape onto the book vase.
  5. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of SC-16 Cotton Tail to the area of the pattern. Allow to dry.
  6. Brush the area with water place the paper cut out on the spaces. Press with paper towel to remove excess moisture and air.
  7. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of SC-12 Moody Blue to the book cover, avoiding the pages. Apply a third coat and place the hamper netting into the wet glaze, brushing over the hamper netting with a thinned coat of SC-12 Moody Blue. Allow to dry to the touch. You can remove some color after it begins to dry with paper toweling to speed up the drying process.
  8. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 coat of SC-11 Blue Yonder over the SC-12 Moody Blue. Then apply 1 coat of SC-16 Cotton Tail.
  9. Remove the hamper netting after letting the glaze set up some, but before it dries. Remove the paper shape of the rabbit.
  10. On the binding section of the book, take a rubber squeegee and smooth out the texture from the netting, for a different look.
  11. When the book vase is dry enough to handle, with a pencil and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper, trace on the pattern to the rabbits.
  12. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply a slightly thinned coat of SC-18 Rosey Posey to the inside of the ears, and the nose.
  13. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, shade the face and backside of the rabbit with SC-46 Rawhide.
  14. Using CB-110 #10/0 Liner with SC-15 Tuxedo to make sketchy lines to detail the shape of the rabbit, eyes are SC-15 Tuxedo.
  15. Pencil in a name for the book, ours is Bunny Tails. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner outline the name with SC-15 Tuxedo.
  16. Remove excess SC-12 Moody Blue from the pages of the book, apply a thinned coat of SC-12 Moody Blue over the pages then remove some with a damp sponge.
  17. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 coat of FN-213 Saffire to the pages.
  18. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 coat of S-2101 Crystal Clear Brushing to the outside of the book and 2 coats to the pages, or clear glaze of choice. Allow to dry.
  19. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06/05.
