Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Place some S-2101 Crystal Clear into a small cup and add a little bit off water to slightly dilute it (about 3 parts glaze and 1 part water). It  should be the consistency of a coffee cream. Pour this into the inside of the snail and roll around to completely coat the interior of the snail. Drain out the excess glaze and keep the snail inverted until it has lost its shine. Wipe off any glaze from the outside using a damp sponge. Allow to dry.
  3. Fire to shelf cone 05/06.
  4. Using the AB-834 3/4" Base Coat brush, apply one coat of SSS-138 Flat Black to the outside pieces.
  5. Using the CB-408 # 8 Pointed Round, apply 2 generous coats of MM-106 Steel to the body of the snail. While the 2nd coat is still wet, spritz with MM-305 Rapid Rust.
  6. To the shell, apply 2 coats of MM-103 Dark Bronze Metallic, and in the creases, 2 coats of MM-106 Steel. While still wet, spritz the Dark Bronze Metallic area with MM-202 Green Patina, and then the Steel areas with MM-305 Rapid Rust.
  7. When you get the desired amount of rust and patina, using the AB-834 3/4" Base Coat brush, apply a coat of MM-502 Matte Sealer.
