Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using the Zebra stamp, visually divided the stamp into thirds. Add SC-76 Cara-Bein Blue to the first third, then add SC-77 Glo Worm to the middle third and then SC-97 Cant-elope to the last third using AC-213 Sponge on a Stick. Load the sponge with the color making sure not to overload the applicator. Too much color will result in a blurred messy image. Tap the color onto the stamp in an up and down motion not side to side. Turn the stamp over onto the top of the bisque canvas area only using about half the stamp. Press down on the stamp so that the stamp is making contact with the area you want stamped. Make sure not to rub back and forth or this will cause a double image.
  3. Using the same colors as in step one, thin down the colors so that they are watery. Load a CB-604 fan glaze brush with the first watery color and scrape the top edge of the canvas with the brush over the same area as the same color that was stamped while holding the bisque canvas up vertically. This will cause a drippy look to your canvas. Continue with the next two colors.
  4. Stamp the entire Canvas with the Mini Fern Stamp using SC-52 Toad-ily Green.
  5. Cut out the globe pattern with scissors and place on bisque canvas. This will mask out that area for the next step.
  6.  Place the stencil on the canvas and hold down with one hand while rolling over the stencil with foam roller very gently back and forth going in different directions with SC-76 Cara-Bien Blue. If you use any pressure at all on the stencil you may get some bleeding under the image.
  7. Pull off the stencil and paper pattern.  Screen the globe over the area that you had the paper pattern. Place some SC-15 Tuxedo on a palette or tile and sprinkle with AC-310 Silkscreen Medium. Use a palette knife to mix color and medium into the consistency of peanut butter. If the mix is too thin add more AC-310 Silkscreen Medium or if it is too thick add more Stroke & Coat. Too thin of a mixture will bleed under the screen and give you a blurred image.  Too thick of a mixture will make it hard for the product to penetrate through the holes in the screen and give blank areas in your screen. Position the screen shiny side down on the piece. Hold in place, starting from the center out, Rub the mixture on the screen with your finger. Lift a corner up to check if you are applying enough color. Remove the screen and wash with water.  Do not let the color dry in the screen. This will cause damage to the screen. 8. Clear glaze when dry and fire to a shelf cone 05/06.
