Instructions

  1. Begin with a properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Thin SW-108 Green Tea with water (3:1). Pour to the inside, roll to coat interior and pour out excess through the spout while rotating to coat spout. Keep inverted until excess glaze is poured out.
  3. On a palette, with a palette knife, thicken SW-301 Iron Wash with AC-310 Silkscreen Medium to the consistency of peanut butter.
  4. Tape a vertical line on the teapot or registration. Hold the small stripes from DSS-0105 Stripes so they are in a horizontal direction, with the shiny side up on the teapot.
  5. Use a squeegee to apply the thickened SW-301 Iron Wash over the screen (starting at the taped line). Since the teapot is a rounded shape, you can only screen 2-3 inches of the shape before the screen starts to wrinkle. Remove the screen before that happens. Tape off a line over the screened section that will give you a vertical line, for registration purposes. Sponge off the screening that is beyond the tape.
  6. Match up the stripe screen to the previous section of stripes on the teapot. There is no need to wash the screen before using it again in this case.
  7. Repeat the sections of stripes to fill in the body of the teapot and lid.
  8. Using the handle-end of CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, dot the spout and handle with SW-301 Iron Wash.
  9. Once dry, using CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, brush 4 coats of SW-108 Green Tea over the entire teapot.
  10. With a dampened sponge clean off the bottom of the teapot and the foot of the lid.
  11. Place the lid on the kiln shelf, same with the teapot. Fire to cone 6.
