Instructions

 

 

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. With a pencil and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper, trace on the pattern.
  3. Use SG-401 Designer Liner to outline the traced design.
  4. Fill in the branch and bird with doodle designs using SG-401 Designer Liner. Allow to dry.
  5. Using both a CB-106 #6 Script Liner and a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply 2 thick coats of SW-201 Turquoise on top of the branch design.
  6. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of SC-89 Cutie Pie Coral to the bird.
  7. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, slightly thin SC-31 The Blues with water and shadow around the branch and bird.
  8. To shade the inside edge of the plate, load a CB-106 #6 Script Liner with slightly thinned SC-78 Lime Light floating the color just below the embossed rim of the plate.
  9. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 1 coat of SW-104 Black Walnut to the inside rim of the plate and with a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 coat to the back of the plate.
  10. Repeat the step above but this time with 3 coats of SW-253 Green Opal. Taper the glaze on the inside rim and near the foot of the plate.
  11. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 1 coat of SW-001 Stoneware Clear to the center of the plate cutting in around the design slightly overlapping the branch and the bird. Allow to dry, Then with a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 coat of the SW-001 Stoneware Clear over the whole center of the plate. Allow to dry.
  12. With a damp sponge, wipe off any excess glaze off the foot of plate.
  13. Do not stilt and make sure the plate is not hanging over the kiln shelf and the shelf is coated with high fired kilnwash.
  14. Fire to shelf cone 5/6.
