Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Cut out the design from the pattern, place it upon the flat surface of the vase and trace the outline onto the vase.
  3. Apply two coats of SC-16 Cottontail, using CB-604 #4 Soft Fan and CB-106 #6 Script Liner, inside the outlined area.
  4. Once the Cotton Tail has dried, lightly wet the paper pattern and place over the glazed area. Use the 2” foam roller, CB-604 #4 Soft Fan or sponge to apply three coats of SC-86 Old Lace to the flat sections (front and back) of the vase.  Apply glaze to the outer edge of the front surface. Let dry.
  5. With the paper pattern still in place, place a stencil so that it overlaps the paper pattern and extends into the Old Lace area (to the left side of the design). Press down on the stencil (to prevent movement) and then apply two coats of SC-46 Rawhide from the flowers and vase design to the left edge of the bisque.
  6. Remove the stencil and the paper.
  7. Use CB-106 Script Liner to apply three coats of SC-73 Candy Apple Red to the red flower. Apply three coasts of SC-93 Honeydew List to the green flower. Apply three coats of SC-97 Cant-elope on the orange flower. Apply three coats of SC-91 Seabreeze to the center of the blue flower.
  8. Use CB-106 #6 Script Liner to apply two coats of SC-15 Tuxedo to the black portions of the vase design. When dry, apply two coats of SC-35 Gray Hare over the Tuxedo.
  9. Use CB-106 #6 Script Liner to apply two coats of SC-10 Teal Next Time to the leaves.
  10. Let dry before using the designer liner colors.
  11. Refer to the pattern for detail ideas for the flowers and leaves. Use the SC-409 Designer Liner Bright Green to detail the green flower, SG-410 Designer Liner Bright Blue to detail the blue flowers, SG-408 Designer Liner Orange for the orange flowers, SG-402 Designer Liner White to detail the red flower.
  12. Detail the green leaves with SG-409 Designer Liner Bright Green.
  13. Outline outer edge of all the flowers with SG-401 Designer Liner Black.
  14. Familiarize yourself with Silkscreen Instructions. Thicken SC-15 Tuxedo with AC-310 Silk Screen Medium until the mixture has the consistency of peanut butter. Select a flourish from DSS-103 flourish silkscreen to create a pattern the white area of the vase design. If you choose a design that doesn not have a mirror image: wash the screen after the first use, reverse it, and apply the Tuxedo mixture.
  15. Other designs from DSS-103 were used to simulate vines and leaves beneath the flowers.
  16. Thin FN-009 Black - two parts glaze to one part water - in a cup that features a pouring spout. Pour into the vase and roll the vase until you get complete coverage inside the vase.  Turn vase upside-down over the pouring cup until excess glaze has drained from the vase.
  17. Use CB-604 #4 Soft Fan to apply two coats of FN-009 Black to the sides and back of the bisque vase.
  18. Use CB-604 #4 Soft Fan to apply one coat of clear glaze to the entire piece.
  19. Stilt and fire to witness cone 05-06.
