Elements™ are non-toxic, low fire glazes in natural earth tones. Surfaces vary from gloss to matte, with subtle variations in each color for a truly unique look. No two pieces will ever be alike. Many of the colors resemble finishes normally achieved in a higher fire or reduction fire. Get high fire looks in a low fire environment. Elements are great for achieving a natural organic look or a sophisticated, elegant look.
Elements Chunkies™ are an Elements™ base with the addition of crystals.
Generally three coats of glaze is recommended, however, applying four coats will produce a totally different look. For a different effect, brush on three coats and apply a final fourth coat using a silk or sea wool sponge. Elements™ are also great for glaze combinations:
- Try layering Elements™ over one another to create a distinctive surface.
- The flux in Pottery Cascades™ will cause movement, changing the whole appearance of the Elements™. Layer over, under or between glazes.
- Use Stroke & Coats® over Elements™ for creating design.
Elements™ may also be fired at higher temperatures, up to a shelf cone 6. These glazes develop their own personalities when high fired. We would recommend testing with your clay body of choice for compatibility.
