Choosing Translucent Glazes

You may be familiar with our Foundations Opaque and Matte glazes, but have you tried Foundations Sheers? These soft, translucent glazes add a bit of color to your artwork while allowing designs and surface textures or show through.

You can apply Sheer glazes over an entire design, such as a design created with Designer Liner or apply them over bolder stamped or painted designs created with Stroke & Coat. You can even use them over sgraffito designs. Foundations Sheer glazes do not affect the detail or any brushwork that you have created.

They’re great for handprints too! Create soft designs by doing prints in deep Stroke & Coat colors and apply a complementary colored Sheer on top. No clear glaze is needed over the Foundations.

Foundations dry quickly so you can fire them the same day. You can mix them together to create your own color and they can be applied to greenware or leather hard clay (leave an area unglazed for outgassing as usual). So easy!

The best way to apply Foundations Sheers is with a large Soft Fan brush that has been fully loaded with glaze. Let the glaze dry in between coats for best results.
