Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Place a small amount of FN-030 Bing Cherry into a small cup and add a little bit of water to slightly dilute it (about 3 parts glaze and 1 part water).  It should be the consistency of a coffee cream.  Pour this into the book vase and roll around to completely coat the interior of the book vase.  Drain out the excess glaze and keep book vase inverted until it has lost its shine. Wipe off any glaze from the outside using a damp sponge. Allow to dry.
  3. With a Pencil and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper, trace the outline of the Dragon onto the book vase.
  4. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of CG-975 Sky Diamonds to the Dragon area. Do not use the large crystals; use the color from the top section of the jar. Allow to dry.
  5. Cut out the pattern and place on the pattern with water making sure the glaze is under all parts of the pattern.
  6. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 thinned coat of SC-15 Tuxedo to the page area. With a Damp sponge wipe back to antique the pages.
  7. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 of S-2101 Crystal Clear to the page area only.
  8. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of FN-009 Black to the book cover.
  9. Using a AB-834 ¾” Base Coat Brush, apply 2 coats of SC-81 Cinnamon Stix dragging color on so that the black comes through in some areas.
  10. Remove the paper.
  11. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, pile on another coat of CG-975 Sky Diamonds with crystals. Place large crystals along the body. Allow to dry.
  12. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 05/06.
