Instructions
- For the right depth of clay, lay out canvas fabric on table and place 1/4" slats on the left and right side of the canvas fabric. Place a piece of moist clay about 3 lbs. in size in the middle of the fabric. Using a rolling pin, roll out the clay to the size desired. The slats are used as a guide to keep your clay level and at the same evenness. Make sure the edges of the rolling pin hit the 1/4" slats.
- Lay the pottery form on the clay with the largest part down. mark the edges with a needle tool.
- Lay the MT-007 Divots mat on the marked space on the clay, roll with a pony roller to transfer the design to the clay.
- Lay the form over the clay again, trace around the edges of the form, lightly with the needle tool.
- Use a ruler to add an inch to the edge of the line, cut out using a needle tool.
- Let the clay rest so it can firm up but still be pliable about 30 minutes to an hour.
- Use the rubber rib to thin the edges of the clay.
- Lay the clay over the smaller side of the form, use the rubber rib to form the sides of the clay over the form.
- Let it sit on the form till it is stiff enough to hold the shape. Allow to dry completely.
- Fire to a shelf cone 04.
- Tape a line about 1/2 inch from the inside edge with 1/4" tape on all sides.
- Brush on one coat of SC-12 Moody Blue to the dotted detail and then wipe off with a damp sponge so the color stays in the dots only.
- Brush on three coats of FN-224 Key Lime to the tray with CB-604 Soft Fan.
- Remove the tape, brush two coats of S-2101 Crystal Clear Brushing to the taped off area.
- Fire to a self cone 05/06.
